Working Safely with Electricity

Tuesday 22nd October is the second day of the Construction Safety Week and the focus of this day is on Working Safely with Electricity.

Contractors are responsible for managing the risks associated with work near overhead electricity wires and underground cables, thus competent person(s) need to review past site records and utility drawings in advance of works and to liaise with the respective utility providers (where applicable).

The importance of working with electricity is undeniable. When not correctly handled, electricity has the possibilities of leading to injuries and fatalities, both of which happen every year on construction sites & manufacturing.

Even when not in direct contact with electrical points or wires, it is essential that all visitors to a building site, or lorry drivers conducting deliveries are fully aware and educated on the importance of working safely with electricity.

As a company, we ensure all our staff are constantly updated on these dangers through training and discussions to continuously broaden their knowledge and awareness of the subject.
